WE'Re OPEN & COMMITED TO CLEANLINESS. Here's what to expect when you arrive.

The Durham is proud to feature collaborative partnerships with friends we love, from North Carolina and beyond.
Los Angeles-based studio, COMMUNE designed the look and feel of The Durham Hotel. Known for their ability to harmonize eclectic elements with traditional surroundings, Commune is recognized worldwide for its commercial and residential projects. Conscientious materials that highlight the architecture of the original building have been handpicked and utilized throughout The Durham Hotel.
RALEIGH DENIM, renown for their handcrafted jeans, has created one-of-a-kind blankets for each of the guest rooms. Designed with their commitment to materials and construction, while keeping the hotel’s colorful midcentury aesthetic in mind, the result is a covetable gift, which can be purchased in the hotel store.
Many of the small decorative items found throughout the hotel have been designed by local craftsmen, and are unique to the space. Beautiful ceramic trays in guest rooms are from HAAND, a small company out of Graham, NC, devoted to high quality modern design using traditional methods. And the individually printed porcelain egg cups used by the restaurant are made by artist MIMI LOGOTHETIS of Cedar Grove, NC.
A selection of BURT’S BEES most beloved products, such as their award-winning Beeswax Lip Balm and Hand Salve can be found in each guest room. Founded in 1984, and headquartered here in Durham, Burt’s Bees strives to make natural products available to everyone.
ESCAZU ARTISAN CHOCOLATES grinds, roasts, and molds small batch chocolate bars and confections in their Raleigh workshop which can be found in drinks at the Coffee Shop, in the kitchen, and on pillows at night.
The hotel Coffee Shop exclusively features COUNTER CULTURE COFFEE. Searching the world for the best coffee beans and selling at the peak of freshness, Counter Culture is dedicated to quality products and consumer education. Our collaboration includes a personalized morning coffee program, tailored to each guest’s tastes and delivered right to the room.
SONG TEA sources traditional, rare and experimental teas from China and Taiwan. Many of the teas are limited edition, with Song searching every year for individual crops with structure and complexity.
Our minibars are stocked with the best snacks from around the state, overseen by NC MADE.
OLD ORCHARD is a small beverage-focused firm driven by the minds of two of Atlanta’s most recognized and respected barkeeps Paul Calvert and Greg Best. Greg and Paul have owned and/or operated a number of critically acclaimed properties in Atlanta, such as the James Beard nominated Holeman and Finch Public House, and Paper Plane (an Esquire best bar in America). The Durham’s beverage menus reflect the dynamic collaborative effort between The Durham team and Old Orchard.
Durham-based advisory firm SELMAN CONTEMPORARY selected artwork for the hotel, made by emerging artists living and working in North Carolina. The hotel’s restaurant features a site-specific mural by Antoine Williams. In the conference room is a wall-work by Leigh Suggs with ceramic studio Haand. The guest rooms include limited edition prints by Ashlynn Browning, Martha Clippinger, and Heather Gordon. The prints were made in collaboration with Supergraphic, a creative art studio dedicated to the production of fine art prints and print media.
One of only two biodynamic farms on the East Coast, WHITTED BOWERS specializes in fruit and heirloom vegetables, using a diversified and balanced farm ecosystem. The Durham features Whitted Bowers’ raw honey, from their farm’s native pollinator gardens and apiary, as well as heirloom apples and fruit. EASTERN CAROLINA ORGANICS is a main supplier which plays an important role in connecting North Carolina’s small food producers with restaurants and food service providers across the state by providing shared transportation and distribution.
Many of our flours are milled by Asheville’s CAROLINA GROUND. Stone ground in a gristmill, using only grains farmed in the south, the end product is a flour with a distinct flavor and texture. Carolina Ground products can be found in our kitchen and bakery, as well as artisan, hearth baked bread from CHICKEN BRIDGE BAKERY along with wood-fired bread from our neighbors at LOAF and from BOULTED BREAD in Raleigh.
Local butchers THE PIG and ROSE’S MEAT MARKET & SWEET SHOP have created products served on The Roof, on our meat board and in our mini bars. FIRST HAND FOODS sources pasture-based livestock from across NC. Our cheese board features cheeses from local cheese-makers CHAPEL HILL CREAMERY and BOXCARR HANDMADE CHEESE.
FILLAREE creates all of the soap and body care products found in the guest rooms and restrooms throughout the hotel, including shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, and body lotion. Fillaree’s zero-waste, refillable products are made in Durham from organic vegetable oils and essential oils.
Our newsstand is home to a permanent installation of the LIBERATION STATION Black Lit Library®, a collection of children’s books highlighting characters of color overseen by Victoria Scott-Miller. Miller is the founder and owner of the Liberation Station Bookstore, a mobile pop-up bookstore based Raleigh. Guests and visitors are invited to choose a book from the shelf and bring it inside the lobby to read in a comfortable space.
