The restaurant and rooftop at The Durham Hotel have joined with many of our friends in the industry in temporarily suspending food and beverage service. While this has been a difficult decision, the health and well-being of our staff, guests and surrounding community is our priority. We are working with our friends and partners in the small business community, as well as government officials, to ensure the support we will all need over the coming weeks and months is both accessible and available. If during this period you are looking for ways to support your favorite restaurants or small businesses, please consider ordering take out, delivery or buying a gift certificate to redeem in the future.

At The Durham, we are taking every possible precaution to keep our guests and staff healthy.

What we’re doing:

We continue to diligently follow our normal safety and sanitation practices, and we are taking guidance from the CDC and local health authorities. We are liberally and frequently cleaning and disinfecting all high-touch objects and surfaces with professional-grade sanitizer and have increased the space between tables in both the Restaurant and the Roof.

Staff members are continuing to frequently wash and sanitize their hands, and we require employees who feel any symptoms of illness to stay home. Hand sanitizing wipes are available to all guests at the entrance to the lobby and handwashing instructions are posted in all public lavatories.

For hotel guests, we have extended our generous cancelation policy to all reservations and rate types. You may cancel or change your booking up until 3pm the day before your arrival and receive a full refund. Those with reservations in our Restaurant who don’t feel well are encouraged to just let us know and stay home.

At the Restaurant, Roof, and Coffee Shop, so that we may both uphold our standards of service and remain open, we are offering a slightly downsized menu and hours for the next few weeks. Beginning Friday, March 13th, The Restaurant at The Durham will be open M-Th 5-9pm and F-Sa 5-10pm; the Coffee Shop will be open normal hours M-Sa 7am-3pm, and Su 7am-noon; and The Roof will be open M-Th 5-11pm (kitchen closes at 9pm) and F-Sa 5pm-midnight (kitchen closes at 10pm), Su noon-10pm (kitchen closes at 9pm). We will resume our normal schedule as soon as we are able.

In the Coffee Shop, we have temporarily halted our Bring Your Own Cup (#byoc) program and will freely offer disposable cups for the time being. To recover lost donations to the Eno River Association from our #byoc program, we will make a contribution to the association this month.

For more information on the virus and preventative measures, see the CDC and National Restaurant Association websites.
