Join us Saturday, December 14, for Downtown Run Club, a monthly group run hosted by Bull City Running Co. The 3.5-mile route takes you past Durham landmarks like Major the Bull, Duke University, the historic Durham Athletic Park, and the Durham Farmers’ Market. Click here to view the route on Strava.
The run starts and ends at The Durham, where you’re invited to leave your keys/water bottle/etc. and enjoy a cookie on us when you buy a drink from our Coffee Shop after your workout.
Mark your calendar for the next runs — January 11 and February 8.
The run goes on rain or shine!
About the route:
From the hotel, we will make our way over to Durham’s official city mascot, Major the Bull. We may pause briefly to pet Major’s nose for good luck, and from there we’ll head down Main Street towards Duke University’s campus. After crossing over Buchanan Blvd., we’ll veer off onto one of the city’s most popular outdoor exercise spaces, the East Campus Loop. We’ll exit the loop at Trinity Avenue and enjoy a tour of the historic Trinity Park neighborhood. A right turn onto Washington Street will skirt the various popular bars and restaurants of the Warehouse District, and Durham Central Park, home to our Saturday Farmer’s Market. Washington will turn into Morris and take us by the original Durham Bulls Ballpark (featured in the movie Bull Durham.) From there, we’ll turn onto Morgan Street to see what’s playing at the iconic Carolina Theatre. And then we’ll make our way back to The Durham to reward our good work with coffee and cookies.
Note: This route is ~ 3.5 miles long with the option to add additional miles on the Ellerbe Creek Greenway Trail and/ or the American Tobacco Trail. Your running tour guides will be available to point these add on points out to you, and we will have Strava maps available for longer mileage routes as well.
